Physiology
Height and Weight
Neo-Humans are virtually identical in overall proportions to Humans from which they are evolved. The average Neo-Human male is about 1.8 meters tall and masses about 85 Kg while the average female is about 1.75 meters tall and masses about 70 Kg.
Appearance
Neo-Humans follow similar hair and skin tones to Humans. Skin coloration varies from dark black through shades of brown and yellow to peach color. Hair colors run from black through brown to red and blond. Eye colors can be blue, green, gray, brown, or mottled mixes. There seems to be no preference toward coloration.
Like Humans, Neo-Humans have a mirror symmetry to their bodies with the left and right halves being essentially mirror images of each other. They have two ears, eyes, arms, and legs and one nose and mouth. Again, like Humans, each arm ends in a single hand with 5 digits. Each leg in a single foot with 5 toes. About 90% of Neo-Humans are right handed while about 10% are left handed. Less than 1% are ambidextrous.
Diet
Neo-Humans are omnivorous showing no inherent dietary preferences. Variations in dietary preferences are matters of taste or culture rather than a biological need.
Rest
The natural 'day' cycle for Neo-Humans is 24 hours as with a Human. Their day is typically divided into three 8 hour periods. One for sleep and the other 2 for normal waking activities. A Neo-Human requires about 8 hours of sleep per 24 hour period. Failing to get the required amount of sleep has fatigue effects as described in the fatigue rules.
Reproduction
Neo-Humans can reproduce in the normal Human fashion. They may mate with other Neo-Humans or with normal Humans. Neo-Humans always produce Neo-Human offspring though the mutation need not follow the mutation of either parent, though there is some small inclination to do so. Neo-Human and Human parings may or may not produce a Neo-Human child. The chance of the child being a Neo-Human mutant is about 55%. Neo-Humans have about a 10% chance of successfully mating with either Darid or Kisha. In the event of a successful mating, the resulting offspring will 95% of the time be of the non Neo-Human species. No instances of a hybrid have been seen.
Neo-Human female bear live offspring after a gestation period of about 9 months. Single births are common while multiple births are very rare. There is no tendency towards the child being of one gender or the other.
In addition to being produced by virtue of one or more of their parents being a Neo-Human, some Neo-Humans are produced spontaneously from two normal Human parents. It is believed that the so called Neo-Humans are the beginnings of the next evolutionary step in the Human race.
Senses
Except when modified by genetic mutation (as has been found in some rare cases), Neo-Humans have senses identical to normal Humans.
Anatomy
Internally, much as externally, Neo-Humans again are very similar to their Human ancestors. The structure and function of their internal organs are nearly identical to Humans. There are usually some notable exceptions derived from their genetic mutation. Some have denser muscle leading to enhanced strength. Some have more nerve fibers leading to enhanced dexterity. Others might have increased heart and lung capacity leading to enhanced endurance. Rarer, some will have altered brain structure and chemistry, leading to enhanced intelligence or strong psionic capabilities. On rare occasions, some Neo-Humans will exhibit multiple enhancements.
Neo-Human blood is interchangeable with Human blood and they both share the same range of blood types.
Lifespan
A typical Neo-Human lifespan is the same as a typical Human, about 100 years. Neo-Human growth and development is identical to typical Human growth and development as well.
Psychology
Family
Early in appearance of the Neo-Humans, they frequently didn't have families as their Human parents are ashamed or frightened by their child's mutation. Because of this the family bond is not as strong as in Human families. It is, however, replaced by a more communal bond. Many Neo-Humans sought each other out for mutual protection and companionship. They would then find and raise Neo-Human children as members of their community, so gradually the community became like an extended family.
More recently, with Neo-Human families beginning to appear, the family structure is beginning to reassert itself.
Fear
Because of their mutations which usually created a being superior to normal Humans in one or more ways, Neo-Humans were feared and often became outcasts among Humans. They became afraid to show their special abilities. Many fled from the families and communities to start a new life where they could hide their gifts from others and be treated normally. Others made their way to the growing enclaves of Neo-Human communities where they could use their abilities without fear of persecution. Even in these enclaves, the Neo-Humans lived in fear of retribution of the normal Humans who shared a given world with them.
Super Criminals
While some felt fear, others felt rage at what was seen as jealousy by the normal Humans toward their gifts. Some handled this anger well while others turned to violence or crime. They viewed Humans as inferior and felt that Human laws and ethics didn't apply to them. These Neo-Humans more than anything else, simply fueled the Human's fear and distrust of these mutants.
Super Heroes
Some however, turned their gifts toward good and used them to help heal the rifts between Humans and Neo-Humans. They learned to turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to the jealousy and fear that normal Humans would often show them. They would attempt to lead a more or less normal life with normal careers. They would use their gifts to simply enhance their lives and the lives of those around them. Often they would choose careers that could take maximum advantage of their talents and thus would excel and stand out among the normal Humans. They didn't hide their gifts nor did they flaunt or abuse them. They simply treated them as a normal part of their life as a normal Human might treat one who was exceptionally gifted.
Society and Culture
Because of the nature of their existence, Neo-Humans don't really have a society or culture of their own. They are in many more ways like Humans then they are different.
Religion
One area where Neo-Humans tend to have a common theme is in Religion. Like most Humans, they believe in a higher power. An intelligent force that, at some level, guides the universe. They believe that this force, call it a god if you will, is responsible for their mutations. They believe these mutations are gifts given not to them personally but to the Human race as a whole. They believe they are the beginnings of the next step in Human evolution and that god is the force behind that step.
Like most Humans, the details of their religion and the details and possibility of an afterlife vary widely. The only thing that tends to be universal is the belief in a god of sorts,
